Cardice adds a fifth suit — Bells — to the classic card deck, creating a deck with 65 cards. It is a trick game, and a novelty is that trump is determined by rolling a die instead of a player's choice.

Before every hand, a roll decides what's trump. Nobody at the table gets to choose it, which means every hand starts with the same question for everyone: what can I do with what I've been given?

Not every card gets dealt, either — some of the deck's biggest cards may be sitting untouched in the stockpile, out of play entirely. That's what makes bidding in Cardice a genuine gamble, not just a math problem.
